A website only accepts JPG
Some upload forms, CMS tools and older portals validate the file extension and reject .jfif even though the image data is JPEG-compatible.
Turn a .jfif image into a .jpg file directly in your browser with no upload and no extra quality loss.

JFIF → JPGJFIF files use JPEG image data, but some forms, apps and websites only accept the .jpg extension. This converter validates the source image and gives you a standard .jpg download without unnecessarily recompressing the picture.
Some upload forms, CMS tools and older portals validate the file extension and reject .jfif even though the image data is JPEG-compatible.
Windows or a browser can sometimes save a JPEG-family image with a .jfif extension. Converting the extension to .jpg makes the file easier to use in common workflows.
JPG is a more widely recognized filename extension for office documents, website editors, email attachments and image-to-PDF workflows.
For a valid JFIF/JPEG file, SmallPNG preserves the original JPEG bytes and changes the output filename to .jpg instead of decoding and re-encoding the image.
JFIF is a JPEG interchange format, while JPG is the filename extension most software expects. In this workflow the image pixels do not need to be recompressed when the source is already a valid JFIF/JPEG file.
| JFIF | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| File extension | .jfif | .jpg |
| Image family | JPEG / JFIF | JPEG |
| Typical compatibility | Can be rejected by extension-based upload checks | Widely accepted by websites, editors and document tools |
| SmallPNG processing | Validated as JPEG-compatible input | Original JPEG bytes preserved; output name uses .jpg |
A .jfif file is not necessarily a different picture from a .jpg file. JFIF is part of the JPEG ecosystem, and some browsers, Windows configurations or source websites may expose the .jfif extension when saving an image. The practical problem is usually extension compatibility, not the underlying photo data.
No additional image re-encoding is used for a valid JFIF/JPEG file. SmallPNG keeps the original image bytes and changes the download type and file extension to JPG, so the conversion itself does not add compression artifacts.
The JFIF file is read and validated in your browser. It is not sent to a SmallPNG image-processing server.
JFIF is a common JPEG interchange format. A .jfif file normally contains JPEG-compressed image data, while .jpg is the extension expected by more websites and applications.
Not with this tool. Valid JFIF/JPEG image bytes are preserved instead of being decoded and recompressed.
SmallPNG checks that the file contains a decodable JPEG image. Invalid or damaged files are rejected instead of producing a misleading JPG download.
Return to the converter above, choose the JFIF file and download the JPG result.
